What Is Apparent Temperature?

Apparent temperature is a calculated temperature that provides a better sense of how the human body perceives the temperature to be those conditions. Examples of apparent temperature are Wind Chill, Heat Index, and the Temperature/Humidity/Wind (THW) Index and the Temperature/Humidity/Sun/Wind (THSW) Index.

Apparent temperature is how the human body perceives the temperature under current conditions. On a cold, windy day, 30°F can feel like 19°F. On a hot, humid, sunny day, 90°F can feel like 105°F. Examples include Wind Chill, Heat Index, the THW Index, and the THSW Index.
