Temperature/Humidity Sensors

Explore our curated range of indoor and outdoor temperature/humidity solutions built for Davis Instruments systems. From compact room sensors to outdoor units with passive or fan-aspirated radiation shields, this collection helps you match accuracy, durability, and placement flexibility to your environment. Find compatible sensors, digital replacement boards, and accessories to expand or upgrade your station with reliable, long-term performance.

For the most accurate readings, mount the outdoor temperature sensor in a shaded, well-ventilated location, 4–6 feet (1.2–1.8 m) above natural ground or grass, and at least several feet away from buildings, walls, roofs, concrete, or other heat-radiating surfaces. Use a radiation shield to prevent direct sun from warming the probe and skewing data. If you must install near a structure, position the outdoor temperature sensor on the north side (in the Northern Hemisphere) or south side (in the Southern Hemisphere) to minimize direct sunlight and reflective heat. Ensure unobstructed airflow and keep it clear of sprinklers, vents, grills, or chimneys.

Yes. Many outdoor temperature sensors are combined temperature/humidity units, often supplied with a radiation shield to ensure stable readings. When paired with the proper transmitter or node, a combined outdoor temperature sensor can report both temperature and relative humidity. Look for models specifically described as temperature/humidity sensors for outdoor use, and consider fan-aspirated shields for the highest accuracy in variable sunlight and low-wind conditions.

  • Indoor temperature/humidity sensors: Compact units designed for inside environments, typically housed for easy mounting and stable room readings.
  • Outdoor temperature/humidity sensors with passive radiation shields: Outdoor-rated sensors protected from solar heating; ideal for most residential and professional setups.
  • Outdoor temperature/humidity sensors with 24-hour fan-aspirated radiation shields: Premium outdoor solutions that actively draw air across the sensors to reduce solar and nighttime bias, delivering the best accuracy.
  • Digital replacement boards: Drop-in digital sensor boards for compatible weather stations to restore accuracy without replacing the entire assembly.
