What Is A Deck Plate?

Deck plates on a boat are used to cover and access otherwise inaccessible spaces, such as a tank for water, fuel, or waste.  Deck plates vary from robust and water poof to light duty and weatherproof.  Synthetic deck plates are commonly found in smaller boats and kayaks whereas metal deck plates are typically found on larger vessels. Deck plates might require a wrench or key to remove the cap.  Boat deck plates, also called marine deck plates can be installed on decks or on a bulkhead or other vertical surface. The water tightness of deck plates varies.
