Technical Support

Davis Instruments, a leading manufacturer of electronic meteorology equipment and automotive monitoring systems,is looking for an experienced, professional person to support our software and hardware products via phone and e-mail.

Description

The representative will perform troubleshooting and problem resolution tasks to end users and resellers in the US and around the world resulting in exceptional customer satisfaction.  Calls will entail application engineering, custom configuration, testing and troubleshooting, order management and facilitation of replacement/repair. 

Required

  • An AA in electronics or computer science.
  • 2 years experience in a technical support call center.
  • Excellent telephone skills.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot hardware/system level failures.
  • Understanding of basic web page technology (HTML coding, FTP, etc. )
  • The curiosity and drive to resolve any puzzle that comes their way.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, RS-232, com/irq conflicts and USB communications.

Desired Skills

  • Background in meteorological sciences and/or fleet vehicle safety management programs.
  • Experience in coding with VB, VBA, C++ and implementing Dlls.
  • Familiarity with database structures including sequential, binary, SQL, mySQL, Oracle and Access.

Firmware Engineer

Davis Instruments is a leading manufacturer of instruments and data loggers for weather and automotive use. Our products include the premier consumer weather station, VantagePro2, and the first personal automotive diagnostic data logging product, CarChip.

Required

  • BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years experience writing embedded firmware in assembly and C.
  • Demonstrated firmware/hardware experience in the design and implementation of real time systems.
  • Recent design experience with 8 / 16 / 32 bit microcontrollers such as Atmel AVR, TI MSP430, STmicro, and ARM microcontrollers.
  • Hands on design experience with microcontroller peripherals such as ADCs, timer/counters, SPI, I2C, CAN and USB.
  • Experience in low power / battery operated designs.
  • Comfortable using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers as diagnostic tools.
  • Experience with OBDII protocols such as J1979, J1850 PWM/VPW, ISO9141-2, KWP2000.
  • Windows driver, DLL, or application development experience is a plus.

PHP Web Developer

Davis Instruments is a leading manufacturer of electronic meteorology equipment and automotive monitoring systems. Our products include the premier consumer weather station, VantagePro2, and the first personal automotive diagnostic product, CarChip.

We are looking for a PHP web developer for a newly forming web software division. The successful applicant will have a flexible hands-on approach with the ability to maintain and improve current systems written in PHP, DHTML and JavaScript as well as architect, develop, test, implement and sustain next generation, highly data driven, secure and scalable consumer fleet management and weather applications. Working knowledge is desired across the full spectrum of application development from socket level communications with remote hardware devices to database implementations to core application and user interface development.

Required

  • 2+ years experience as a PHP Web Developer
  • Related work experience designing and coding data-driven Web Applications and user interfaces using PHP, JavaScript, DHTML, XML, CSS, AJAX and MySql.
  • Related work experience analyzing and querying relational databases.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills

Desired Skills

  • Experience with network socket programming (TCP/UDP/IP).
  • Experience with Google Maps API.
  • Experience with various backend technologies (IIS/UNIX/Apache/Tomcat)
  • Experience with cellular networks (GPRS) is a plus.
  • Experience with Java, JSP, ASP, .NET, C, C#, C++ is a plus.
